Indira Mahavidyalaya College is a leading educational institution in the district of Yavatmal, Maharashtra, India. The Institute was founded On 20th Jun 1983 Dr. Bhau Mandavkar started this college in the name of their Mother-in-law Indira who fought against castism & classism & married inter-cast with Dr. Y.M. Donde in 1929 alias Indira Mahavidyalaya, Kalamb. Presently, Senior college of Institute offers Undergraduate courses in Arts (B.A.), Commerce (B.Com) And Science (B.Sc) and Post-graduate courses in commerce (M.Com.) And M.A. The senior college is affiliated to Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. Junior college (11th & 12th) offers courses both for Commerce & Arts faculty.Over 1,500 students are studying in the Institute. The College has excellent and well-equipped library, Modern Computer facility.
Yugandhar Mandavkar is a rural development professional with over 35 years of experience in community based natural resources management (CBRNM) and rural livelihoods. After completing his B Tech in Agricultural Engineering from PKV Akola and Post-graduation in Management from IIM Ahmedabad, he worked on several programmes of watershed development and climate resilient agriculture programmes. In his career spanning few countries in Asia and Africa, he promoted and supported over a hundred Civil Society Organisations producer organisations in viable rural enterprises and value chain management.
He played a key role in designing people-centric development programmes like the Indo-German Watershed Development Programme (supported by KfW-NABARD), District Poverty Initiatives Programme (the World Bank supported DPIP-MP), PRI and WASH programmes in Himachal Pradesh (supported by GTZ), Convergence of Agriculture in Maharashtra (CAIM), Micro-Area Development Programme in Afghanistan, Financial Inclusion Improves Sanitation and Health (FINISH) and Kutch Drought Proofing Programme (supported by MoRD, GOI and PMNRF). One such project on management of groundwater by community institutions qualified for Development Marketplace in Washington DC in 2007. He joined as an early cohort of the Global Social Benefit Incubator of Santa Clara University at California in 2009.
He has a reputation for professional excellence, including strategic planning and management skills, in the field of water resources management and capacity building of community institutions to improve local governance with a focus on science, technology and innovation.
Principal Dr. Pavan Mandavkar has completed M.A. in Marathi and English. He has completed his B.Ed. with distinction. He was honored with Ph.D. degree by Amravati University on the subject of 'Daya Pawar: Wangmaydarshan ani chikitsa’. He has also passed the NET exam conducted by UGC in Marathi subject. He was the first merit in MA Marathi. He has served seven years in the Indian Air Force. During his service to Nation, he was at Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh in Punjab and Uttaralai of Barmer district at Rajasthan-Pakistan border. He has worked as Teacher, then Marathi Lecturer and now Principal in Indira College, Kalamb.
Fifty one books written or edited by him published on various subjects. He regularly writes in newspapers and magazines. Many of his stories and speeches have been broadcasted by Akashvani Nagpur and Akashvani Yavatmal. His collection of children's poetry, Kilbilat, has received a financial grant by the Maharashtra State Board of Literature and Culture. His thesis has been published in book form with UGC grant. Dr. Pavan Mandavkar has won many prizes in elocution, debating competitions and running in sports. He has received some awards. Among them, the Vidarbha Sant Sahitya Sammelan Anjangaosurji's honor letter, the Acharya Kavyaratna Award, Jyotiba Phule Shikshavid Puraaskar, Literary Award and Best Story Collection Award for his book Byand Master.
He has organized many seminars, workshops, conferences. He has had the opportunity to read essays and chair seminars in various seminars and workshops. Many research books and research papers are on his name and he has also read research papers abroad. He has the honor of chairing the BICCS 2015 seminar in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. He also presented a paper in Abu Dhabi, the capital of UAE.
He is the Editor-in-Chief of the national level journals Marathi Pradhyapak Sanshodhan Patrika and Research Journal of India. He serves on the advisory board or editorial board of several college journals. He has also authored the books for the university's distance education department. He has worked on University NSS Advisory Committee.
